It looks like Google is planning on expanding their support options for owners of the new Google Nexus One smartphone. The new option appears to be telephone support and comes by way of a recent Google job posting which outlined the details of the new position, a Phone Support Program Manager:
…responsible for ramping up and managing operations of Google’s telephone support for our direct-to-consumer Android/Nexus One customers.
Telephone customer support will be a welcome addition for Android/Nexus One owners who up until now have had to rely on other means to find resolutions to any Nexus One problems they may have. Most commonly, owners of the smartphone have been “Googling” solutions, reviewing forum posts, reading the FAQ and engaging email support.
Google did decline to provide a timeline as to when the call center would be fully operational but I suspect some time may still still be required as the job offer does state “ramping up”, which would probably mean more call center agents would need to be hired and trained for the new role.
