Google Audio or Gtunes, call it what you will, it appears that Google plans on launching their own music service that will rival Apple’s iTunes. According to sources at TechCrunch, iLike and Lala will be partners with Google on this joint venture with users being able to stream music directly from Google search results.
This isn’t the first time that Google has entertained the idea of a music service as it appears this is something that they toyed with back in 2006. However at the time, the idea did not gather much steam, perhaps the market was not ready.
In any case, it appears that the official announcement for this new service will be on October 28, 2009 at a by invitation party called Discover Music.
