Google’s homepage is quite minimalistic in design and without making major changes to the site, the top search engine today has still managed to get customers to talk about them. Some of the biggest changes that the search engine has made has come in the form of doodles of their corporate logo and this was then expanded to include animated, playable logos.
Now, there’s a new change and it doesn’t come in the form of a new logo. Rather, it’s a subtle change that involves the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button which is located to the right of the “Google Search” button. If you go to Google.com and place your mouse arrow over the I’m Feeling Lucky button, the button will spin similar to the slots on a one armed bandit. Eventually, after a short spin, the slot will stop on a phrase such as “I’m Feeling Stellar” or “I’m Feeling Wonderful”. If you click on one of these phrases, it will take you to a webpage that pertains to one of Google’s services or products. For instance, clicking on I’m Feeling Stellar brought me to Google Images and showed me images of the Orion Nebula.
There are millions of people that visit the Google home page and this simple change in the way a button works offers an easy way for the search engine to introduce customers to their other offerings.
