Google Real Time Search

Google (and everyone who knew Google) knew the search giant was in trouble when Twitter came into the picture. All of a sudden, Internet users had a way to find real-time results on any bit or breaking news or trending topic. Back then, Google’s spiders crawled along and took at least a couple of hours to index news stories. Thankfully, that, too, is now history.

Google has very recently unveiled its Real-Time Search technology, which will finally let users search for breaking news on Google instead of other, less-conventional methods. You can now find stories released only seconds ago instead of earlier today. Google leverages on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, identi.ca, and FriendFeed to get its real-time results.

Google’s Real-Time search feature will be implemented over the next few days and will be available anywhere in the world. You can try it out yourself as early as now by visiting Google Trends.

Of course, if you’ve been keeping tabs on the other big search engine out there, Bing has had real-time search for almost two months owing to a partnership with Twitter and Facebook. Now that the real-time scene is dead even again, let’s see if Microsoft beats Google to the punch again on the next search innovation.
