Google Gesture Search For Android Devices

Google Gesture Search For Android Devices

Android devices have been backed by the largest search engine, Google, which has resulted in new innovations and developments being routinely released.

Google has a new application available for the Android powered mobile platform called Gesture Search. The new app augments Google’s other search features such as search by voice and will likely be a valuable tool in situations where you need to be whisper quiet or are looking for a faster input method then the traditional text entry search.

Gesture Search is a Google Labs application that recognizes basic alphanumeric characters drawn on the touchscreen display. Gesture Search offers a faster search experience in locating personal contacts, installed software applications, music files and bookmarks.

If during the gesturing, you make a mistake or perhaps Android doesn’t recognize your messy writing, you can always erase and start again. Handy for the physicians with chicken scratch for writing.

Like many of Google’s other products, Gesture Search includes a bit of smarts. Based upon your personal search history, Google can offer personalized search results that are more specific to your needs. Sounds almost a bit AI like.

You can download Gesture Search through the Android Market but at a minimum, you will need to be on the Android 2.0 operating system, which by the sounds of it will be every US Android handset shortly as there is talk that Android 2.1 is on the way.
