As the year draws to an end, rumors about various Google products continue to surface, with the latest leak detailing the possible hardware specifications of the Google Chrome OS Netbook.

Although known primarily as a search engine, Google has been expanding their business into new areas with such products as Google Android and Google Chrome OS. They’ve also taken a page from one of their primary competitors, Apple, and have been looking at making their own hardware, in this case a netbook.

According to the British IBTimes, the Google netbook is a “high performance machine” that will come with the following features:

  • Processor: ARM-based
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Display: 10.1-inch HD capable touch screen ready
  • Storage: 64GB SSD

Built on the Nvidia Tegra chipset, the Google netbook will also come with all the other standard features that we’ve traditionally seen in netbooks such as WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity, a webcam, a card reader and USB ports.

In terms of software, the netbook will of course include the Google suite of software preinstalled such as Google Maps, Gmail, Google Documents, Google Calender and Google Search. We’re still about one year from launch date as the netbook is expected to be released during the 2010 holiday season for about $300.
