Google Search Engine Caffeine

Google has announced its updated search engine, nicknamed “Caffeine,” which will replace Google’s current search engine once testing has finished. The new search engine will have improved speeds and will introduce real-time news feeds and search results. The testing has been done under wraps and now that it’s in the open, Caffeine is out to give Bing and other competitors the jitters.

It was only recently that Microsoft partnered with Yahoo to strengthen Bing, a new search engine that has caused a stir in the search engine market. Other players like Wolfram Alpha and a revamped Ask Jeeves also made their moves, but after the dust settled, Google still held on to a massive 87% market share in the search industry.

Facebook is also throwing itself in the mix, acquiring FriendFeed’s more-or-less real-time search engine recently. Of course, Twitter’s still around – after all, it started the trend on “real-time search.”

Google denies Caffeine is its response to increased competition. The search engine giant welcomes competition, but Caffeine has been a secret project in the works for months. Matt Cutts, Google’s head of Webspam, wrote in his blog that nobody cares more about search than Google, and that they’ll never stop trying to improve it.
