Google Real Time Ads

Google has just recently acquired a patent that will help keep Street View updated — and also ultimately generate even more ad revenue for the online search giant.

At present, Google Street View gives street-level images of popular cities and towns. But the ads you’ll see on the images — such as billboards, posters, and signs — aren’t updated. For instance, a street view of a certain cinema might show you a poster of a movie that showed several months ago.

Google’s new patent will let the guys behind Street View update the said ad spaces in their street images — at a fee, of course. Now advertisers can pay Google whenever the ads get updated in real-life, and Google updates Street View accordingly. Players in the real estate business can also capitalize on this new feature for buildings.

The patent was only recently acquired, so it’ll be some time before Google rolls out the new service.
