Google Building Own Chromebook

Chromium OS

Google’s Nexus One is a good example of how the company can easily come up with its own device that supports its own OS. This may indicate that Google is also well on its way to produce its own netbook powered by the upstart Chrome OS. But how true can this be?

From what we do know, the release of the Google Chrome OS source code a while ago triggered mad speculation about the future of computing. While the computing world is divided about working on the cloud, Acer has already jumped on the cloud computing bandwagon by announcing the development of their own Chromebook, due out in the second half of 2010. No doubt other netbook companies will follow suit.

According to TechCrunch and its sources, Google’s own Chromebook will be out around December 2010, well around the time we expect the Chrome OS to reach maturity. The timing seems just about right. Google will be shipping their Chromebooks directly to customers and lock them in with a 3G data plan of some sort. Interesting, if a little vague — let’s see what Google has to say.
