Logitech Glass Mouse

A traditional optical mouse works by recognizing minute bumps and patterns on a flat surface and subsequently translating these into mouse movements. On a smooth clear glass surface, such details are not present in sufficient quantities for the mouse sensor to detect and consequently mice simply do not function well on these types of surfaces.

However, all this is going to change with the Logitech Performance Mouse MX and the Anywhere Mouse MX. According to Logitech, the new mice will make use of dark field microscopy to detect the slightest of irregularities, even on a glass surface that is a minimum of 4mm in thickness.

The Logitech mice will include a hyper-scroll option as well as Logitech’s Unifying receiver. The Performance Mouse MX will retail for $99.99 and includes 4 customizable buttons, a micro-USB charging unit and supports side to side scrolling.

The Anywhere Mouse MX will retail for $79.99 and would work well as a compact travel mouse.

Both mice will be available this month.
