This fabric would remain connected to the social site through your iPhone and has the ability to detect nearby social friends and portray them on the fabric.

It’s not a far stretch for this gadget to come to fruition. The challenge of course will be in designing the fabric, but the concept is not new. We’ve already seen cell phone dealers entertain the idea of allowing users to enter personal profiles and through bluetooth technology, alert the user when someone with a similar profile is nearby.

Obviously, having an always on social connection will have privacy experts express concerns about public privacy but perhaps the software could be used to alert users of nearby friends without sending private detail to the social website itself.
