OLED screen technology may one day adorn your walls in the form of cool animated wallpaper. Toshiba has been working on a breakthrough technology that would allow them to place thin flexible screens on all the walls of the home.
No longer would you be limited to dull print patterns or monotone colors. If you feel like showing scenes from a tropical island paradise or of deep sea creatures, this wouldn’t be a problem with the OLED screens.
With OLED technology, you would be able to have any unique wallpaper that you want, you would only be limited by your imagination. Heck, you could even go out of this world and show scenes from past Mars missions if that’s your passion. You truly would be limited by your imagination.
This new OLED wallpaper is said to be highly eco-friendly and will require only a fraction of the energy used currently by LCD or plasma televisions. In addition to the cool wallpaper that this new technology promises, the OLED home technology will also provide light and will transform traditional home lighting needs.
Toshiba has made great strides in this nanotechnology research project, but announced at the Yokohama Flat Panel Display International that this technology is still a few years away from commercial production.
