Still a concept gadget, but Aptera has drawn up plans for an eco-friendly solar powered boat. Known as the Loon, this personal pontoon boat was designed for the Tamarack Lake Electric Boat Company.
Should the design move from design to production, it is expected that this boat will be about 22′ in length, lightweight and made from recycled material such as bamboo and natural fibers.
Using the 1000W solar power panel on it’s collapsible roof, the boat should be able to travel upwards of 35 miles per day with a top speed of 7 knots. There is no estimated price for this pontoon, but considering Aptera’s ability to design affordable green vehicles, perhaps the price will be in line with other large yachts on the market.
