Fukitorimushi – The Robotic Floor Cleaner

Step aside Roomba as the coolest gadget to clean floors this week is the Fukitorimushi, a Panasonic robot that emulates inchworm movement.

Robotic Floor Cleaner

This autonomous robot uses a combination of electronic sensors and “blue white light” to detect dirty spots on the floor that require additional attention.

Once such a spot is found, the robot emits a red light and will attack the dirt stain, using the nanofiber cloth that is attached to it’s underbelly. What makes the Fukitorimushi a good cleaning agent is the Teijin’s Nanofront cloth which contain polyester filaments that are 7500 times thinner then the average human hair. It is because of these filaments that this robotic cleaner can absorb oil and clean ultra fine dust particles.
