Fujitsu announced the availability of 4 energy smart indoor air conditioners known as the Nocria series. The Nocria S and Z are designed for larger rooms while the Nocria J and R are more for the smaller rooms in the home.
Even small air conditioners are not the most energy efficient products. With the Nocria series, Fujitsu has added a power saving feature known as a pyroelectric infrared presence sensors.
These IR motion sensors detect when someone enters or leaves the room. The presence of motion activates the unit to effectively cool the room. If there is no motion in the room for ten minutes, the A/C unit slows down in activity and room temperature is raised. After 3 hours of no activity, the A/C unit will power off.
There is no word yet on pricing and availability, but that should be coming shortly.
