Unlike it’s predecessors (BeBook, the Sony Reader, the Foxit eSLick), the Fujitsu FLEPia is the first color eReader.

Considering that most books are still printed in black and white, there may be some question as to the value of a color eReader but this jump in technology may be the stepping stone that will push for new innovations on the part of ebook authors and publishers.

The FLEPia will retail in Japan on April 20th and includes an 8-inch XGA touchscreen that supports 260,000 colors, 4 GB SD card that can store 5000 ebooks, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi and a USB port for data transfer. Fujitsu guarantees that the battery lifespan on the new eReader will be about 40 hours. The Japanese release will also come with Windows CE 5.0 so that it is compatible with MS Office documents.
