If you’ve familiar with FaceTime for the iPhone 4, but aren’t quite satisfied with it, there is another alternative that has popped up in Apple’s app store. The alternative is Fring, a cross platform mobile app that allows you to make two-way video calls over a WiFi or 3G network connection.

As it is a cross functional app, it is compatible with not just the iPhone, but also with Symbian and Android handsets. Fring does not need to be actively managed. Rather, it supports multitasking and can be run in the background, letting mobile users known only when an incoming video call, chat or voice call arrives. It also has an enhanced address book so that you can better manage your friend list and merge contacts.
