Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) announced that they will release a free trial version of their upcoming Windows 7 Enterprise operating system. The 90 day trial is aimed at IT professionals, desktop administrators and decision makers who are “looking for a way to continue their work with the Release Candidate to test their applications, hardware, and deployment strategies with final Windows 7 bits” indicates Microsoft’s Stephen Rose.
The free trial will be available for download through Microsoft’s TechNet Web site. Rose advised that there will be a limited number of trial licenses available on a first come first serve basis. Although the Enterprise edition of the operating system is designed more for corporations, it appears that anyone with an interest in testing the OS may be able to download it.
As the 90 day trial comes to an end, users will not receive any kinds of nag screens or warning about this. Rather, the system will shutdown every hour and users will need to either discontinue use of the Windows operating system or perform a clean install with a purchased license.
The general release date of Windows 7 is Oct 22nd.
