Back in 2006, gaming PC-maker Alienware was acquired by Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) and, to put things politely, things haven’t been the same for the company. We think that’s the reason why three of Alienware’s former head honchos decided to jump ship and start a new company called Origin, and basically create gaming machines the way their old company Alienware used to.
Their first creation is already rolling off the presses — the Origin Eon18, a powerful gaming laptop. If you were an Alienware fan a few years back, you’ll like the way the Eon18 has the look and feel of the gaming machines you used to love.
The Eon18 sports an 18.4-inch HD display, 7.1 high-def audio, dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPU’s, and a max of three 250GB SSD’s. It started out with a Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300, but now packs Core i7.
The specs aren’t the best we’ve seen on a gaming machine, but we do love the customization options. You can choose the color and design for the top cover, and even replace the “Origin” logo with your own logo (or your name, if that’s how you roll). Overall, it’s an encouraging first of hopefully many offerings from Origin.
