Forget 3D, 4D Avatar Movie In Korea

Avatar, the 3D epic movie directed by James Cameron has smashed all box office records and is now the highest-grossing domestic box-office movie release within US history. The movie took this title over from Titanic which was another one of James Cameron’s movies. Avatar has done so well that Fox movies and Cameron have had “very early talks” about Avatar 2 or a sequel movie.

Many people have seen this blockbuster movie multiple times and those in Korea that have seen this 3D movie now have a chance to see it from a whole new angle, 4D. CJ-CGV, Korea’s largest multiplex chain has begun showing Avatar in 4D.

The 4D movie adds an additional 30 special effects to the 162 minute movie. These new special effects include such things as breeze and wind effect, mist, laser lights, moving seats and the smell of explosives that sync up with the onscreen action.

With all of these new effects, the price of 4D movie tickets has shot up to $15.80 per seat, more then double that of a regular movie, but regardless of the price these 4D movie theaters show movies to sold out audiences and CJ-CGV has even grown by another 3 4D theaters due to the success of just 4D Avatar.
