It was only a matter of time before we would see a fridge in a car and it seems to be a practical idea. At least, it appears that Ford thinks this way and has introduced a fridge in their 2009 Ford Flex lineup of cars. At a price tag of $760, this isn’t just a compartment that is cooled by the air conditioning, but rather, this is a full fledge fridge with a compressor similar to what you find with a home fridge. The built in fridge can lower the temperature of a beverage to 41 degrees in 2.5 hours, while an optional freezer can chill an item to 23 degrees Fahrenheit.
There’s no doubt that this is a bit extravagant, but it does have practical uses on long road trips where you may want cold beverages or to keep groceries cool.
We now have cars with a fridge, cars with LCD displays, we only need an in house microwave so that popcorn can be made in the car to enjoy with the “in-drive” movie.
