Now that we know all that there is about the iPhone 5, the next set of questions to come up is just how much is it and when will it be available? We already know that the iPhone 3GS is discontinued, the iPhone 4 is free with contract and the iPhone 4S is $99 under contract.
In regards to the iPhone 5, at the press event, we did get to see a short promotional video which was then followed by Phil Schiller taking the stage. During his portion of the event, it was disclosed that the iPhone 5 pre-orders will begin this Friday, September 14th. Apple’s not wasting any time with this as that is just two days away. One week after the pre-orders begin, the iPhone 5 will officially go on sale on September 21.
As with past models of Apple’s smartphone, the iPhone 5 will be available in either black or white and in terms of pricing, Apple will maintain the same prices as it did with the iPhone 4S. This of course has to be good news to see that Apple didn’t bump up the prices with the introduction of a new model. As such, the 16GB model will sell for $199, the 32GB model is $299 and the 64GB model is $399. These prices are with a contract through one of Apple’s approved mobile carrier partners, namely Sprint, AT&T or Verizon. If past history is any indication of demand, expect demand for the iPhone 5 to be very high and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Apple go through their first run of iPhone 5s very quickly.
