Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) Flash Player 10.0.45.2 as well as earlier version that are available for the Linux, Macintosh, Solaris and Windows operating have been confirmed as having a critical security flaw. According to the information received from Adobe, the flaw “could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild against both Adobe Flash Player, and Adobe Reader and Acrobat.”
In response to this, Adobe has released Flash Player 10.1 which includes 32 bug fixes. Adobe has also announced their intention of launching new versions of their highly popular Adobe Reader and Acrobat applications that will also incorporate these changes. In terms of timing, it’s believed that these new versions will be available by the end of June.
Although no system comes with 100% security, you just have to wonder if Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, is smiling as he has been most vocal about his dislike of Flash. Currently, 95% of all machines globally have Adobe Flash player installed which has been the reason why hackers have always turned to this software application to find possible exploits.
