In early January, we discovered that LG Electronics was testing out new 3D display screens that would be glasses-free. The idea was that these types of screens would soon be available on the new phones that are being released, bringing more convenient 3D technology to smartphones.

A couple of days ago, a Dutch website posted information about the upcoming LG Optimus 3D and this was followed by an LG invite for the Mobile World Congress, during which the company will announce a new phone that will take mobile customers “into a new dimension”. Although this is not 100% confirmed, Phandroid is reporting that the pictures that you see are the very first images of the Optimus 3D.

The site is confident that these images are not of the Optimus Black or the Optimus 2X and based upon what their tipster has provided, it would seem that the LG Optimus 3D will have a screen size that is larger then 4-inches and is capable of delivering a glasses-free 3D experience. This is a high end phone that will have a dual core CPU, multi-channel RAM and a front-facing camera.
MWC 2011 will take place in Barcelona, Spain between February 14th-17th, so stay tuned, I’m sure we’ll here more about this LG handset soon.
