The first 3D National Hockey League game has been set for this Wednesday, March 24, 2010 and the teams involved are two long time rivals, the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders. The game will be broadcast on the MSG (Madison Square Gardens) network with the broadcast team consisting of Kenny Albert on play by play, Dave Maloney as color commentator and Al Trautwig as television host.
The game itself will be captured using the 3ality Digital 3D cameras and will be offered to paying customers within the theater located within Madison Square Gardens itself. Additionally, Cablevision will also carry the game so that MSG HD network subscribers with a compatible 3D television will also be able to view the game. There are also talks underway to have the game shown as a pay per view broadcast within the US, though there are no plans currently to make the first 3D NHL game available in Canada.
