FCC Approval Received For Dell Mini 5 Android Tablet

The Dell Mini 5, an Android based device has cleared another hurdle, receiving FCC approval for the US. With its 5-inch 800×480 touchscreen display, some have questioned how to exactly classify this device. Is it a mobile phone, mini tablet or portable internet device.

From the FCC filing, we do know that the Dell Mini 5 will include 3G, WiFi and HSPA connectivity which makes it compatible with the mobile networks of AT&T in the US as well as Bell, Telus and Rogers in Canada. It is also believed to come packing with a 5 megapixel front facing digital camera, integrated Bluetooth technology and a SIM card slot.

No firm release date for the Dell Mini 5 has been announced, but Michael Dell did say at the World Economic Forum that it would be out in a couple of months and receiving FCC approval does make it inch a step closer towards a US launch.
