Facebook has come out with a simpler version called Facebook Lite for ease of use for newbies and for countries with bandwidth constraints. The Lite site offers fewer services and is therefore much faster and easier to use. On the Lite version, the profile page has basic features such as the wall, friends, information, photos and videos. Third party applications, wall to wall posts or invite friends to an event are not available on this version.
Facebook Lite was available as a beta test for limited users in August. As of yesterday, it was available in the US and India. Today it is available internationally at www.lite.facebook.com.
