Robot Sheep Debut At Robot 250

In celebration of Pittsburgh’s 250th anniversary, Robot 250 is holding a festival between July 11th-27th, showcasing outdoor robotic artwork known as Bigbots. One of the entries this year was a lawn mower in the form of a robotic sheep.

This was a design entry by Osman Khan, a visiting professor from CMU. If you’re looking for efficiency, this probably won’t be for you, but if you’re looking for cute and fuzzy, and lots of sheep noises, this is a fun entry. The cutting blade of the mower is where else but in the mouth. The head also contains sensors to assist the little guy in avoiding obstacles as well as a GPS unit which provides more autonomy.

Robot 250 is jointly launched by Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, you may want to check it out.
