Toshiba has taken the wraps off their latest two netbooks which will first go on sale in Europe. The new models are the NB500 and the NB520 and both models have moved up to a dual core processor with the 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550.
The units also support 720p HD video, but what the NB520 has going for it, which is absent on its sister model is a pair of Harman Kardon speakers which come with Dolby Advanced Audio support and an output level of 4W.
The new Toshiba netbooks can be ordered with up to 2GB RAM and a 250GB hard disk drive. The units also come with 802.11n, Ethernet Lan support and 3 USB data ports. What is interesting about the Toshiba NB520 is that it has out of the box, Bluetooth 2.1 support, but at a later date, a firmware upgrade will bring it to 3.0. These netbooks may sound like a nice little package for Christmas, but they won’t be available unti the New Year in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. There were no details regarding an upcoming North American launch.
