Evernote has come out of the beta testing and version 1.0 is now available as a free download through the Android market. Evernote is a note taking application that up until now has been available for Windows, Mac, Apple iPhone/iPod Touch, Blackberry and Palm Pre. According to GigaOm, Evernote for the Droid does not match up to the iPhone version, but does have a leg up on all other platforms.
Some of the features of Evernote include the ability to take notes, tag them and place them in virtual notebooks for storage and retrieval at a later date. The application also comes with OCR or Optical Character Recognition so that you can take a digital picture of text which when uploaded, can be then searched using keywords.
Although Evernote is a free download, a premium version is available for $5/month ($45/year) which includes additional features such as improved security through SSL encryption, 500MB/month bandwidth for data upload, support for additional file types and Adobe PDF searching.
