Teraokaseiko debuted the double faced touch panel display at the Sign & Display Show 2008 which is being held in Tokyo. The display is made by attaching a resistive touch panel to both sides on a transparent inorganic EL panel.

The display will have a number of uses such as with mapping software whereby users can touch the back of the screen to bring up a map without obscuring any portion of the map with their finger.

However, let’s face it, what will be one of the coolest features of the new touch panel displays? Games of course. How about a game of Tic Tac Toe, or SOS with opponents sitting on opposite sides of the display. How fun would that be?

The pixel count on these displays is 256 × 120 and the orange monochrome color is reminiscent of years gone by. I’m sure that with time, both the pixel count and color will improve if this product takes hold in the marketplace.
