Instructables has a cool DIY project on how to build your own USB powered fan called the USB Cooler.

DIY Project - USB Powered Fan

The project requires few starting materials, just 2 CDs, USB cable and plastic tube or papier.

The process involves cutting the CD in a windmill design, stripping the USB cable to expose the underlying wires and then piecing everything together. This is a straightforward project requiring just the most basic of electrical wiring skills but the end product is a desktop fan that you can proudly display in your work area.
