The Microsoft Windows Phone 7 launch party has been a source of quite a bit of information and with the media tuned into this event, Dell has taken spotlight to announce their new Venue Pro slider phone.
The Venue Pro may not be a name that people are familiar with, but it is actually the Dell Lightning, only having been renamed. The hardware configuration of this 4.1-inch portrait slider phone includes an AMOLED display screen and a back-facing 5MP digital camera. The unit also comes with a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor which at least keeps it in the game with other smartphones in its class.
Within the US, the Venue Pro will go on sale through T-Mobile, most likely on November 8th. Those in the UK and other parts of Europe will see the phone a little earlier, possibly as soon as October 21st.
Dell, who is more known for their computing products has always had a rumored interest in the smartphone business and this year, 2010, has really been their year to make a move in this market. First was their Google Android powered Dell Streak tablet/mobile phone and today, they also have a WP7 phone with a full QWERTY keyboard.
