Dell has recently made headlines with the unveiling of plans for its newest project, dubbed the “Streak.”

Set to be launched in the UK sometime in June, and at an undisclosed time later in the US, Streak is a portable tablet device that allows users to access the internet as well as provide a number of different functions.

A built-in wireless and 3G Internet connectivity provides users online access and the ability to keep in contact with friends, relatives, and the rest of the world. As a portable device, it remains small enough to carry around wherever you go. It uses Android Market widgets, apps, and games that fit perfectly into its 5-inch screen. It also sports a platform that will allow for software updates, meaning its functionality will sharpen over time.

Dell Communications Solutions Group President, Ron Garriques, stated that the Dell Streak will have the qualities of “smartphones and larger-screen tablets,” allowing for a variety of uses in numerous different environments. It supports Bluetooth capability, allowing for efficient communication between users.

Dell Streak will initially come with several built-in applications for social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, while still carrying built-in features such as a high resolution, front-mounted camera for taking pictures. It also allows for up to 2 Gigabytes of integrated storage space and has a Micro SD slot that supports up to 32 GB for the numerous applications that will be available to consumers at its release. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which runs at 1 Gigahertz, provides the power it needs to support all these features.
