D-Link is the first company to introduce Captcha Image support to it’s home and small office router line.
These days, virus attacks are occurring at unprecedented levels and although free spyware removal tools and antivirus software are readily available, it is never the less an unending battle.
Today, many home computers are protected with a hardware router and although these may not always be setup correctly, the fact that they do exist means that trojan horses need to find a way to defeat them in order to detect wireless networks and to reconfigure the domain name system (DNS) settings so that all network traffic goes through the attackers network.
In response to these challenges, D-Link has added Captcha support to it’s router line. By doing so, it makes it much more challenging for all the nasties from guessing the password and thus altering the settings.
Not all routers will support this, but the more popular ones, including the DIR-615, DIR-625, DIR-628, DIR-655, DIR-825, DIR-855, DIR-685, and DGL-4500 will. To obtain the new enhancements, you will need updated firmware available through D-Link.
