solar tent - camping gadgets

Today’s campers appreciate eco-friendly products and will love the luxury of being able to keep in touch with family and friends.

Orange, the key brand of the France Telecom Group, has a vision of the future outdoor tent. This large camping tent of the future has photovoltaic fabric (coated fabric) which is specially coated solar threads woven into conventional fabric. This synthetic fabric captures solar energy that can then be used to charge mobile phones and other portable devices. There is no need for messy wires and multiple chargers. The three glides on the tent move throughout the day to capture the sun’s energy.

This solar concept tent also uses “glo-cation” technology which helps locate the tent in the dark. With the use of mobile phones you can either SMS message or with use of active RFID technology, the tent will glow so campers can identify their tent in the dark.

The concept tent has a wireless control hub where information is displayed on a touch screen LCD display unit. This wireless hub also provides wireless internet access. The amount of energy being generated and consumed can be accessed at this control hub. You can preset the temperature of the tent. When the internal temperature goes below this preset temperature, the internal heating element will be triggered to increase the temperature. The internal heating element is embedded within the tent’s groundsheet.

The future of camping looks promising, but for now, this cool tent is a conceptual product.

Hi,

This is a concept gadget, something that hasn’t been developed yet, but an idea for a solar tent that is being considered for future development.
