Chitika Report: iOS 6 Adoption Rate At 60% Now

It’s been about a month now since Apple launched iOS 6 and there is a keen interest to see just how well the new version of Apple’s OS has been accepted by its customer base. Today, based upon new information that has been made available by Chitika Insights, we can say that nearly 61% of iOS devices within Canada and the United States are running on iOS 6.

That’s not a bad rate of adoption, but there is also a trend that has become quite evident and that is that the rate of adoption is now slowing down. Some 14 days after the availability of iOS 6, Chitika had reported that there was an adoption rate of 50% so we saw a quick adoption rate early on, but this has now started to plateau. In the last two weeks, iOS 6 has found itself on only 11% more devices. Regardless of the slowdown, Apple can take pride in saying that iOS 6 had the fastest install rate of any of its predecessors.

To put Apple’s success in perspective, we only have to have a look at Cupertino’s major competitor, Google, and we can see that at the beginning of October, only 1 in 4 were running the most current version of Android, this 12 months post release.
