It’s common to see companies partner together and offer computer bundle deals that benefit all parties involved. In today’s announcement made by Sprint and Best Buy, this is exactly what was seen.
Under the terms of the announcement, Sprint will offer consumers a 99-cent netbook provided through select Best Buy locations under the condition that the consumer signs a new two-year mobile data contract.
The new netbook that Sprint will offer is the Compaq Mini netbook which comes with an Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, 10-inch screen, WiFi connectivity, built-in webcam, digital media reader and Windows XP.
Speculation is that the new offer by Sprint is their way to compete with AT&T and Verizon Wireless, both of whom currently offer similar netbook deals, although not with quite such a deep discount.
