Unlike solar powered cell phones, the Chairman uses a different eco-friendly battery charging method. This environmentally friendly cell phone is self winding. By incorporating a kinetic charger into it’s design, it relies on motion/activity to charge the cell phone battery.
Self winding is not a new method of charging, several well known watch makers have used this charging option in their automatic watches for years.
The Chairman has simply taken this great idea and ported it into their cell phone designs. Of course, this does mean that as the owner, you can no longer rely on passive charging. Since it is self winding, you will need to be active to charge the battery.
There is no word as to how much activity is required for a full charge, but if you have a desk job, it may mean going for a power walk at lunch hour.
The Chairman is a limited edition cell phone, with only 1846 ever having been made. We’re still waiting on pricing and a release date, but expect that to be coming shortly.
