huBox – USB Hub, SD Card Reader & Storage Container

With technology converging and multifunctional printers that can fax, print, scan and copy becoming the norm, why can’t a USB hub taken on a similar multipurpose role even if it is on a more rudimentary level and that’s exactly what the huBox sets out to do.

This USB hub tries to standout from others in the market by offering three different functions. When you first look at this device, it looks like an ordinary USB hub with a white top. On closer inspection, you’ll note that the top is removable, uncovering a small storage space where you can store all of your various USB devices and keys.

On the sides of the huBox, you’ll find three USB 2.0 ports and one SD card reader that supports a data transfer speed up to 480 Mbps. The box itself is fairly small, measuring 10cmx10cmx5cm and has a weight of 180 grams. It is also compatible with both Microsoft Windows and the Apple Mac.

It should be available through GeekStuff4U at which time we may have some more information about pricing.

Lego Wallets Look Like A Pending BackAche

Seinfeld fans may remember the old episode where George Costanza carried an overstuffed wallet in his back pocket that eventually led to back pain, sitting lopsided and eventually losing all of his bills and receipts in a gust of wind while outdoors.

The Lego Wallet does remind me of this episode as I can’t imagine stuffing a hard shell wallet in my back pocket or for that matter, any pocket, but that’s just me. The Lego Wallet is available in two main styles, Lego brick or Lego baseplate. Each wallet is handmade, unique and can be customized further if so desired. The Lego Wallets also come with a small selection of colored bricks and seeing as each wallet is made by hand, a few days are required to complete the order.

The wallets cost about $24-$32 USD. If you are a Lego fan and want to spare yourself a backache, you may want to check out some other Lego creations such as the Lego flash drives or the Lego MP3 player.

You-Vision Video Glasses

The You-Vision video glasses allow you to shoot digital video footage in the first person point of view. Think spy glasses here as this frame includes a built-in 320×240 camera that resides just above the bridge of the nose. A small well placed switch positioned on one of the arms is used to trigger record mode, of which these geeky glasses is capable of 5 hours due to the rechargeable lithium battery and the 2GB flash memory.

Captured data on can then be downloaded to a personal computer through a USB cable which also serves the purpose of charging the battery. Compatible with both MAC and PC, the You-Vision video glasses retail for $150 through Photojojo.

Gboard Keypad With Gmail Shortcuts

Sony UX Voice Recorders

Sony’s latest digital voice recorders have reached a milestone by being able to capture up to 1000 hours of voice recordings. The new recorders are available in a variety of color choices and include an MP3 player, features which will appeal to both the consumer and student markets.

The three new recorders are model ICD-UX200, ICD-UX300 and ICD-UX300F. The UX200 is the base model which comes with 2GB of flash memory and is available in four color choices (black, red, silver, pink). Both the UX300 and UX300F come with 4GB RAM, double what was in the base model. It is these two models that are capable of the 1000 hours of recording with the UX300F being differentiated with the inclusion of an FM radio.

Common to all the recorders is their ability to record in stereo MP3 format, 21 different speed step playback feature, MAC/PC compatibility, noise cancellation technology and a battery life that is rated for 15 hours of digital recording or 83 hours of playback time.

Expect to see the new recorders in Europe this December, with pricing still to be announced.

We all remember how our parents used to get by with battery-powered calculators – you know, the ones that could only display eight digits at a time, and would get passed around the office every now and then. Today, everyone who has a cellphone (which basically means EVERYONE) has a powerful calculator in their hands, and battery-powered calculators are now a thing of the past. Or are they?

Apparently they’re making a comeback as a funky cool gadget, a water-powered calculator at that. This device uses water to help the battery power the unit – a little water is enough to power the little thing for about a month. It comes in a hip, trendy blue-and-silver design and will definitely be loved by people who STILL use handheld calculators (surprisingly, there are a lot of them still hanging around).

The water-powered calculator costs about $20, which makes it a great gift item – especially since all it takes to power the thing is water. It may not be a scientific calculator, but they’re probably working on one right now.
