Psystar Returns From Filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Psystar Chapter 11 Bankrupcy

Psystar, the Apple clone maker has successfully completed its corporate restructuring and has returned from filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. In an email newsletter that went out to their subscriber base, the company indicated that they are now ready to “emerge and again battle Goliath.”

A perennial thorn in Apple’s side, the company has already announced the release of new hardware, this time in the form of Open(7) which “brings together OS X and Intel Nehalem Xeon technology.”

The new device supports up to 24GB of RAM and will be available in either a desktop or rackmount version. MSRP for the new unit has been set at $1499.99.

Along with this announcement, Psystar also indicated that they would start using a new bootloader known as the Darwin Universal Boot Loader, which will be made available to the open source community.

Dell Mini 10 Netbook To Include GPS Service

With the recent success of the TomTom turn by turn navigation system designed for the iPhone and reports indicating that the demand for GPS enabled devices will steadily increase in the coming years, Dell has elected to delve into this market of opportunity by offering GPS and Wi-Fi positioning services on their Mini 10 netbook line.

Expected to launch next week in the US, the new service takes advantage of Dell’s “Wireless 700 location solution” which consists of an internal GPS card with Wi-Fi locationing and Dell’s CoPilot navigation software.
