Casio already pretty much has a winner with the Exilim EX-H10, but fans of the sleek point-and-shoot camera has something bigger to watch out for this year. Casio has already announced that the GPS-capable version of the Exilim EX-H10 will be available by October this year, coming with a price tag of $400.
The location-aware version is named the Exilim EX-HG10, and will have an internal GPS sensor. It’ll also have a 3D accelerometer, which interpolates indoor location to the 10x zoom lens, 12.1-megapixel sensor, and 720p video recording features of the original EX-H10.
The price tag may cause a few eyebrows to rise — after all, $400 is a bit on the high end for a point-and-shoot. But if you were around the CES a while back, you’ll like the price — it’s lower than what was once suggested during the show.
And nope, Casio’s Exilim EX-HG10 isn’t the first GPS-capable digital camera in the world. There are many other models to choose from — except that very few of those models focus on the GPS feature as closely as Casio does. How well Casio’s upcoming offering does against the competition remains to be seen.
