Digital camera site DP interface indicates that they have the first pictures of the new Canon camera, the PowerShot G11. The G11 is the sequel to the G10 and with all sequels, you come to expect bigger and better. On the surface, the G11 has a reduced megapixel count from 14.7MP seen in the G10 to 10MP. This may appear that you are getting less for your money, but Canon believes that the reduced resolution combined with a larger sensor will result in less picture noise.
Other features of the G11 include a 2.8-inch swivel rear LCD, an optical viewfinder, a hot-shoe and raw recording. Although the camera has been designed for the more experienced photographer, it still includes features such as Smart Auto Mode for the beginner.
The G11 will retail this October and there is no word on pricing yet.
