Call of Duty: Black Ops Gets Community Modifications

Activision has had a strong franchise game in the Call of Duty. The game which started out as a PC game has been ported to other game consoles and the like. Through the years, gamers have seen a number of different game titles released under this franchise banner and though the releases have generally kept the legions of fans pleased, there have always been areas that could use some improvement.

One of these areas that could use some changes was the lack of support for both community modifications and dedicated servers. Activision has been listening to these complaints and are looking to introduce some changes with their next game, Call of Duty: Black Ops which will now support both community modifications and dedicated servers.

This is a big change as it implies that a developers console will be made available, thereby allowing for game modifications and more specifically, custom modifications to be made. As Treyarch, a Black Ops developer stated, these changes will be made available after the game officially launches.
