Boxee may have announced a dedicated home in the Boxee Box back in December, but the software maker has always maintained its eyes on Apple TV. Boxee develops free software that allows users to create a media center that can be used to stream digital content in the form of movies, music and pictures. Their custom software has been upgraded and Boxee Beta has been confirmed to work with an Apple TV box once again, though there is no official Apple support for this product.

The setup instructions are said to be clear and easy to follow and are available here. If you are currently using Boxee Alpha, it should only be a matter of updating the launcher to restore full functionality once again. Once the Boxee installation has been completed, the Apple TV menu will include a selectable Boxee option again while retaining all current Apple TV functionality.

There’s no saying how long Boxee Beta will last for, but for now it is available and to be enjoyed. Who knows, the next Apple TV update may just disable this functionality once again.
