The rumor mill never stops and one rumor that seems to have a lot of traction lately concerns RIM (Research In Motion) and their interest in creating a slider phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen display.
Although this idea has been circulating for some time now, it appears that there is some validity behind it, with Shaw Wu of Kaufman Bros. indicating that such a device is now in the prototype stage and is expected to launch in 2010. Codenamed Pluto, model 9900, Wu describes the device as the “best of both worlds” since it combines a hardware keyboard with a touchscreen display, something that is seen in modern smart devices. Pluto appears to be a hybrid between a Storm 2 and a RIM no touch QWERTY device. I’m sure more details will follow in the coming weeks.
