Xobni Outlook Contacts

Xobni revealed more details about their Outlook plug-in’s mobile version at the BlackBerry Developer Conference. An expert in address book technology, Xobni’s mobile Outlook plug-in will let users scour their inboxes for every single contact they’ve ever gotten in remote contact with all their lives.

This can be pretty important for anyone who uses e-mail at least moderately. Admittedly we don’t really save every single person we get in touch with over e-mail into our address book, and it’s easy to lose important e-mail addresses especially when we need them the most. According to Xobni (“inbox” spelled backwards, if you haven’t noticed yet), the number of contacts in an average person’s inbox is 5 to 10 times more than in their actual address book. Scary thought if your life depends on e-mail.

One of the features that were shown at the Conference included Xobni Rank, which automatically ranks your contacts according the depth and freshness of your relationship. That is, if you know more than one Stephanie, then the Stephanie you get in touch with most will rank much higher on the list than the Stephanie your co-worker CC’d three years ago.

Xobni mobile should start untangling contact lists in BlackBerries everywhere early next year.
