Though not official, indications are that Research In Motion (TSE:RIM) is preparing their own tablet computer that will launch in 2011. Currently known by its codename of BlackPad or Cobalt, the BB tablet will feature an 8.9-inch touchscreen display that will be designed by Hon Hai, a Republic of China corporation. Using the Hon Hai screens, the BlackPad is expected to introduce a display screen which is smaller as well as thinner then what is currently seen on the Apple iPad.
In addition to this, the BlackPad will run on the BlackBerry OS (no surprise), and will support WiFi and 3G connectivity. There is also talk that mobile users will also have the ability to synchronize their tablets with their personal BlackBerry devices, a feature that was also announced with the new Allerta inPulse BlackBerry Watch.
