Bell MiFi

Making good on its promises, the Canadian cable and wireless provider Bell released the new Novatel Wireless Mifi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. The new device taps into Bell’s equally-new HSPA network, and will offer up to five wireless devices to share one 3G connection.

With this announcement, Bell has become the first ever carrier to bring the MiFi 2372 in Canada. Users will be pleased to know that the device works with most OS platforms (Mac, Linux, and Windows), and offers a 7.2 Mbps transfer speed. The device also doubles as a thumb drive, sporting a microSDHC card slot for expandable memory.

The device is ideal for most small groups that do occasional streaming video and online gaming. The 7.2 Mbps transfer speed should be fast enough for these operations, and will also handle more basic Internet functions without a problem.

The Novatel Wireless Mifi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot is available in two plans — $100 CAD (US$94) with a three-year lock-in period, or $250 CAD (US $235) with no strings attached.

Doubling as a thumb drive…I like that idea. Very clever, indeed.
