It’s no secret that the headphones that come bundled with most Apple products aren’t really the best out there. It’s often worth finding better alternatives on the market and hope they’re compatible. This is the reason why the latest iPod Shuffle, which came with its own special headphone set (the controls are on the headset, and not on the iPod itself), was enough to make eyes roll. Just like Apple.
Luckily, Belkin has recently developed a headset that’s compatible with the third-generation iPod Shuffle, complete with the same in-line controls. It gives the same amount of functionality that the Shuffle’s bundled earbuds offer – you can skip between tracks and playlists, adjust the volume and hear a voice recite the song title. Oh, and it comes in black, too.
The adapter has a 3.5mm jack connector at one end, the controller in the middle and a 3.5mm jack input at the other end. It’ll be on sale around the world by mid-August, but a few lucky ones will get their hands on it in North America much sooner. If you hate the latest Shuffle’s earbuds, then the $19.99 you’ll spend on Belkin’s Headphone Adapter will be the best investment you’ll make this summer.
